I usually pay my bills as soon as they come in.
But one particular day, I realized that I had buried a couple because I had coordinated a conference for women. One was past due, something I avoid like the plague, so I immediately sat down and wrote the checks. (Yes, I know, you probably do everything on line, which is fine too.)
As I walked to my car to mail the bills, I also held some tickets in my hands to a special event at our church. The Lord impressed me to go to the neighbors on either side of my house and invite them to attend the free dinner. I did, and they both seemed happy to get them.
Then I thought, God, Your timing is perfect. I don’t usually mail something on Sunday.
How about you? Can you say, “Please, Lord, open my eyes to see things around me such as:
- Circumstances you’e created and allowed
- The truth that others need help
- Your will for each day
“Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust; cause me to know the way I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee,” (Ps. 143:8).
Who and where are the people You want our lives to touch today, Lord? Are they in rehab or the hospital? Would a specific verse or our testimony bless them?
Just as you opened Hagar’s eyes to the well of water in Gen. 21:19, open our eyes to the things around us that we can use to help someone else.
